Make Up Marathon

Oh, well, it's only been 4 years since my first post! LOL! Guess my excuse is that I have been very busy doing make up and learning more and more!

Yesterday I finished what I'm going to call a make up marathon. I am exhausted! And extremely proud of myself as well :) Before that 'marathon' it's been a couple of months (maybe 4 or 5) since I've made up someone, and the need to go back at it was unbearable!
These gigs were in my agenda for 2 months already and were all for the same person. She had a HUGE marriage coming up in her husband's family, and needed to be dressed up and fully made up for the entire duration of the wedding, so... she called her trusted cousin, aka: ME!
We're Moroccans, so, weddings are always a big celebration. Sometimes bigger than they should be, and this one was the latter! Basically I made her up 4 times:

*the engagement party
*the henna celebration
*the wedding party
*the 'day-after' party at the in-laws

For all four of these parties, my cousin chose the most exquisite of kaftan dresses, which I will show you later. They were in the colors yellow, gold, aquablue and night blue. I was in heaven! What else could you ask for as a make up artist? Pictures will be posted asap.

The nice thing about these make up gigs is that I learn so much from them. Not that I use my clients as guinea pigs, but, I do find out things as I go along, like... I tried N.Y.C. lashes that I had bought from Spain. They were cheap and they looked awesome in the package. However, applying them was a bit of a nightmare (even though I used Duo lash glue), they were very thick and didn't feel comfortable at all... So, I won't be using them again... things like that!

Unfortunately, the pictures won't do any justice to the work I put into this (crappy phone camera)... I really hope I'll be able to get a good camera soon, God willing!

First Post

Hi everyone! Welcome to my blog!

I'm really excited to start my own little make up related blog. I am thinking of the countless hours I've spent on other people's blogs, and I mean HOURS of enjoyment reading about their make up hauls and reviews. It's so extremely useful.
We are literally bombarded by ads and products that claim to do so many things: fake lash effects, silky, glowy skin, pore-minimizing, natural colors, highly pigmented powders, etc etc... until you buy it and are completely disappointed.
Why can't a product do what it says on the package?!
I want to know which mascara will give you the most defined, blackest and longest lashes. I want to know which cheap eyeshadow is the most pigmented and long-lasting. I want to know it all.
And I want to test these products with you.
Because, let's be fair, I didn't go to a beauty school, I don't know all the rules and I certainly can't tell if your skin is red or yellow based (any tricks are welcome, btw), but I am passionate and I'm happy to claim that yes, I am a make up artist!
